Frequently Asked Questions

How do I secure my wedding date?

A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your wedding date. The date is not officially reserved until a deposit is made at the time of booking. Initial deposits are not refundable but will be deducted from the total costs of hair and makeup.

When do I book my trial?

We recommend a trial prior to reserving your wedding date. That way we have met in person and you know your hair and makeup vision is complete.

Where are trials held?

Trials are held on location at my studio in Montclair, NJ or your residence.

What if I want touch ups after the ceremony?

We offer VIP touchup services at an hourly rate.

I have allergies to certain products, what do you suggest?

Bring in the products that you use at home and we can work with those to create a beautiful, professional look for your wedding day.

Can I try different looks at my trial?

We encourage our brides to experience serval different looks. We allot 1.5 hours for hair or makeup and up to 3 hours if you are doing BOTH hair and makeup.

I have a large bridal party. Will you be able to accommodate all of us?

Yes! Not only does Marcela create a wedding- day schedule for you to ensure you and your bridal party are getting beautified with plenty of time, but she arranges her team according to the amount of services being rendered.

Do you offer a lip stick/gloss for touch ups after you leave?

We recommend buying a gloss or lipstick you can touch up yourself throughout the night. Marcela Sola does apply a lip color on you, but does not provide you with a lip stick or gloss to take with you.

How dirty should my hair be?

We do not recommend having dirty hair, but rather fresh dried hair from the night before.

Bridal Hair Tips

On the day of your hair trial, bring anything you think that will help understand the looks you love or the style of your wedding. Bring pictures of yourself from your dress fitting, brides, celebrities, models- anyone whose look inspires you.

When you’re finding pictures to bring to the trial, try to find ones that don’t stray too far from your own look and style. If you are the kind of girl that loves having their hair down and flowing, maybe you don’t want to go for a sleek up-do – and vice versa. You definitely want to be yourself, but with the “wow” factor.

On your trial and wedding day, have clean dry hair. Avoid using a lot of conditioner that morning, especially leave-ins. Stay away from any silkening products that weigh your hair down and make it slippery to work with.

If you are thinking about using hair accessories, be sure to bring them with you to the hair trial. That is the best way to know for sure if that’s something you want in your overall look.

Extensions can be scary if you aren’t used to them, but they are way less scary then they may sound. Extensions bring an added amount of volume and length to the hair that may be just the thing you are looking for in your wedding day look. If you have them already, bring them to the trial and if you don’t, contact me prior to the trial so we can discuss your options.
